Privacy Policy

Effective July 12, 2026

Wrigley Wire is a Chicago Cubs analytics and fan-engagement platform, available on the web at wrigleywire.com and as an iOS app (bundle ID com.wrigleywire.app). This policy explains — plainly — what data we collect, what we don't, and how our third-party integrations work.

🎯 The short version

  • We do not require you to create an account. There is no login, no user profile, and no personal identifiers we track.
  • We do not sell your data. There is no data to sell.
  • We do not use analytics or advertising trackers. No Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no advertising SDKs.
  • We do not use cookies for tracking. The site uses minimal browser sessionStorage for UI state (e.g. remembering your last-viewed tab) — this never leaves your device.
  • Statistics come from public APIs (MLB Stats API, ESPN) and AI briefings are generated by Anthropic Claude 3.5 Sonnet using only game data — no user input is ever sent to the AI.

1. Information we collect

Wrigley Wire is designed to work without collecting any personal information from you. Specifically:

Account information — none

There is no user login, no email signup, and no profile creation.

Location data — none

We do not request or use your device's location.

Contacts / photos / microphone / camera — none

The iOS app does not request access to any of these.

Analytics / advertising identifiers — none

We do not use Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Facebook SDK, or any advertising / attribution SDK. The app does not collect your device's IDFA (advertising identifier).

Automatically-logged technical data — minimal, transient

Like every website, our servers log standard HTTP request data (IP address, user-agent, timestamp, requested URL) for a short period so we can debug outages and defend against abuse. These logs rotate automatically and are not tied to a personal profile.

2. Third-party services we rely on

To deliver live scores, analytics, and editorial content, Wrigley Wire loads data from:

  • MLB Stats API (statsapi.mlb.com) — official public source for scores, standings, rosters, and pitch-level game data. See MLB's privacy policy.
  • ESPN (site.api.espn.com) — used for win-probability data during live games. See ESPN/Disney's privacy policy.
  • Anthropic Claude 3.5 Sonnet — used to generate the daily Cubs Pulse briefing and postgame recaps. No user input is ever sent to Claude. The only data we send is publicly-available game statistics. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
  • Emergent (hosting) — provides the servers Wrigley Wire runs on. See Emergent's privacy policy.

3. Cookies and local storage

Wrigley Wire does not set tracking cookies. The web app uses a small amount of browser sessionStorage to remember:

  • Which tab you were last viewing (so the UI doesn't reset when you switch views)
  • The score of the current live game, so we can play a subtle animation when it changes

This data never leaves your device and is cleared when you close the browser tab or app.

4. Children's privacy

Wrigley Wire is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. Because we do not collect personal information from any user, we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (U.S. COPPA) or under 16 (EU GDPR).

5. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA / general)

Because we do not maintain personal profiles or user accounts, there is nothing in our systems tied to you personally that we could look up, export, or delete on request. If you have any concerns or believe this doesn't apply to your situation, please contact us at the email below.

6. Editorial content and CMS

Original articles on Wrigley Wire are written and edited by our editorial staff. Article content and images uploaded via the internal CMS are stored on our own MongoDB database and are served publicly at the article URLs on wrigleywire.com. No public user contributes content; the CMS is not open to third parties.

7. Trademarks and attribution

Wrigley Wire is an independent fan-run platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Chicago Cubs, Major League Baseball, MLB Advanced Media, or ESPN. All team names, logos, and trademarks are property of their respective owners and are used under fair-use principles for editorial coverage.

8. Changes to this policy

If we ever change how Wrigley Wire handles data (e.g. if we introduce user accounts, push notifications, or analytics), we will update this page and change the "Effective" date at the top. For material changes, we'll surface a notice in the app on next open.
